The project does not focus on genres as analytical categories of folkloristics, but on vernacular, i.e. ethnical genres in their oral and written forms and on the distinctive features of genre systems of concrete cultures. Genres are interpreted in Bakhtinian sense as historically emerged artistic forms that express a specific worldview. Emphasis lays on the genesis, continuation and transformtion of narrative genres in the conditions of literary culture. Generic aspects of folklore will be analyzed in oral performance, mass media, collections of folktales and legends, in chain letters, Internet lore and such phenomena, popularly referred to as “superstitions”. Thus research will be done on the textualization of beliefs in contemporary folklore. |
