Classification of words has always been a difficult task both for theoretic and for applied linguistics. The failure of existing classifications to deal with border cases has posed particular problems for computer linguistics. The goal of the present project is to provide a full survey of the problematic cases and to find ways for dealing with them, thereby contributing to the elaboration of theoretical as well as applicable classification systems and to the systematic description of the dynamics between parts of speech. The results will be presented in the form of publications, papers, and principles of classification usable in applied linguistics. |
