The aim of the Project is to provide a survey of the lexical relations, semantic development, naming motives etc. of the Finnic languages. The source material is drawn from the linguistic collections prepared for the international joint project Atlas Linguarum Fennicarum (see the ESF Grant No. 4193). This unique material enables the researcher to bring out the intersections as well as mutual impacts and historical differentiations of the Finnic languages and dialects. The results of the studies are planned to be published in articles and reported to conferences. |
