description: | The IQ test scores change over time (Lynn 1982, Flynn 1984, 1987).Usually there is the increase in IQ test scores ( Flynn effect). But there is evidence, that the amount of secular rise in test scores is different in different subtests and in some subtests even the fall is taking place. (Svensson, Emanuelsson & Reuterberg, 1997; Neisser, 1998; Flynn 2000, Raven 2000). James Flynn points to the social demands as the key factor of the secular rise in IQ scores. In Estonia there is a quite long tradition of IQ measurement - about 60 years already. Several data is available for making comparisons of children mental abilities with their scooling as well as social and educational backround. (investigations by J. Tork, J. Sõerd, P.Kees, K. Toim). We establish the following research tasks: 1. To arrange and prepare for contemporary computation and analyses all available old raw data. 2. To find indicators of social and educational background of different cohorts of children valid to describe secular rise in mental test scores. 3. To make comparisons between changes in mental abilities of schoolchildren and changes in social demands of society in Estonia.
