The Project is aimed at the study of timing - the phenomenon, which influence on the population scene during the past centuries can be compared to demographic transition itself - in the Estonian setting, building on national subprojects in the framework of several European comparative studies. The Project takes the advantage of individual-level data from four national surveys ( EFFSF, ELFS, EFFSM, ENS), as well as harmonised vital and census statistics. Research activities 2003-2006 are planned to be carried out in three main directions: (1) timing of population development and the demographic position of Estonia among European nations; (2) temporal association and synchronisation across population processes in Estonia: trends and differentiation; (3) changes in the timing - juvenation and ageing - of major population processes in Estonia and their demographic implications. The Project is carried out in close international cooperation in the framework of NIEPS and is planned to result in a monograph. |
